Overview
Canada is geographically, the second largest country in the world. Yet, so much of the nation experiences community in a rural context. Adventure Teaching is inviting motivated applicants to join dynamic and energetic teaching communities in Northern Canada’s First Nations communities. The population of said communities are small, however the opportunity to inspire through education is remarkable. In your spare time, take to the mountains, the snow or watch the northern lights that frequent the night sky. If you are someone that is interested in exploring life outside of your comfort zone and dedicating yourself to teaching, you won’t want to miss this opportunity.
Eligibility
The eligibility for teaching in Canada is specific, please read below.
Citizenship
In order to obtain a teaching role in Canada you need to be a Canadian citizen. Due to hiring regulations only Canadian citizens are able to apply for this role.
Education
To qualify for this role you need to have a Bachelor’s degree. Additionally you need to have your Professional Year of Teaching and be a qualified teacher. Experience is valuable and would affect your pay, however it is not required.
Personality
Adjusting to a new environment can be tough, we are looking for candidates that are up for the challenge of moving to a remote and rural community in Northern Canada.
Job Details
Depending on your experience and qualifications you will be teaching in a classroom context ranging from elementary to highschool ages and grades. You will be provided with a curriculum that guides you through the school year, with the ability to add your own flare. There are opportunities for professional development and the role offers subsidies for accommodation. This role allows qualified teachers to work in a new context, while developing their professional experience and inspiring youth through education.

Benefits
A Full Time Job
This role is full time, consisting of 35 hour teaching weeks. Not everyone has the benefit of a full time job in Canada. Take the opportunity to move to Northern Canada and enjoy the benefit of a great job.
Housing
Housing subsidies will be provided by the school that hires you. In some cases, there are houses that are set aside for teachers. The school will communicate clearly about the living arrangements and will work very hard to meet your needs.
Travel
Your travel costs are supported and subsidized on a case-by-case basis.

Each contract and region vary in the way of benefits, they are in line with typical Canadian contracts and benefits (health benefits and pension matching).

We believe that placements are only successful if both the teacher and the school are happy, therefore we are committed to getting to know our teachers so that we can place them in a school that fits. Teachers are asked to provide the AT team with their country and location preferences, we take these into consideration for a placement but ultimately will provide you with the best option.

Once our team reviews your resume and headshot we will invite you to an interview. This is our opportunity to get to know you and ask you questions about moving and teaching abroad.

Once your documents are completed our Placement Coordinators will work with you to set up interviews with schools abroad. They work behind the scenes to submit your profile to multiple opportunities.

Time For Travel
Our team works with you to make travel arrangements and support you during the process of moving abroad.
