Overview
Teaching English in China is an incredible opportunity to invest in your professional life with the ability to explore at your fingertips. China has a growing need for English Teachers, and there are some incredible schools that are looking for teachers. Adventuring in China ranges from the Himmialyas and the Great Wall of China to some of the most economically and technologically advanced cosmopolitans centers in the world. We at Adventure Teaching promote the impact that education can have around the world. We want to empower you to move abroad, take risks, explore new environments, meet new people, and pursue purpose through teaching.
Eligibility
There are three components to a teacher’s eligibility: citizenship, education, and personality.
Citizenship
In order to obtain a visa to teach in China Korea, you need to be from one of the following countries and hold a valid citizenship: America, Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa and the United Kingdom. Unfortunately, if you are from outside of one of these countries, immigration will not grant the appropriate visa for teaching abroad.
Education
To qualify for a visa and get hired by a school in China, you are required to have a Bachelor’s degree from an English-speaking academy. Many of our teachers will also have Master’s degrees, which is a great bonus. You will also require a 120-hour TEFL teaching certificate. Don’t let the need for TEFL to be a barrier though, as we have lots of great partners who you can get qualified through.
Personality
Adjusting to a new culture and work environment can be very demanding, and we have found that teachers who are flexible and driven in nature excel in this type of teaching environment.
Job Details
Each job will vary slightly in nature; however, each role represents the opportunity to grow personally and professionally as you teach English abroad. You can find yourself teaching English to kindergarten aged children, or teenagers. You will be given a curriculum that guides you through the school year, with the ability to add your own flare. Unlike some other opportunities abroad, contracts in China offers great work life balance as some contracts have as low as 15 hrs a week of teaching. The specifics of each job will be addressed along the application and interview process with Adventure Teaching.
Benefits
A Full Time Job
A majority of our teachers find themselves teaching abroad straight out of college. Teaching abroad provides both the stability of a full time job and the excitement of a new environment.
Housing
Housing will be provided by the school. You will live in an apartment close to your school which you can expect to include a kitchen space, bed, appliances such as a fridge. Having housing provided with a job is unique to this profession and is a huge benefit.
Flights
Your airfare will be reimbursed an airfare. Is that not incredible? You will need to pay for your flight upfront, and depending on the contract you sign, the school will either reimburse your flight to China or your flight home.
Pension, Healthcare, Severance
Depending on where you are from, you will pay into your pension while abroad and then be given the means to collect your pension upon your contract ending.
Opportunity to Adventure
China is known for its history and diverse geography. Visit the rice fields surround the Guandong Fortress Towers, explore the highest waterfall in Asia known as the Huangguoshu Waterfall. Of course, you must explore the Great Wall of China and enjoy some traditional food.

Country Profile
China, one of the most historical civilizations is the 5th largest country in the world and the single most populated nation on the plant, coming in just over 1.4 billion people. Interestingly, although China has the highest population, the overall density is less than many other countries. China has an extremely diverse climate ranging from the tropics in the south to subarctic temperatures in the north. China is also known for its famous structures such as some of the tallest buildings in the world, the Great Wall of China and the Forbidden City. While in China your senses will come alive with some delicious food and cultural experiences. China is both ethnically and linguistically diverse, creating a stunning environment to learn Mandarin or various other dialects. China provides an incredible opportunity to earn, as it is one of the highest paying countries for teaching abroad in Asia, while exploring and being in a new environment.

In order to apply and interview with our AT team, you will need a resume and headshot. Your headshot does not need to be taken by a professional but does need show your personality and professionalism. Our team loves photos on a neutral background with you smiling from the shoulders up.
Interview with our AT team
Once our team reviews your resume and headshot we will invite you to an interview. This is our opportunity to get to know you and ask you questions about moving and teaching abroad.

Interview With Schools Abroad
Once your documents are completed our Placement Coordinators will work with you to set up interviews with schools abroad. They work behind the scenes to submit your profile to multiple opportunities.
Sign Your Contract
When you are offered a contract, we will guide you through the specifications and advise you on whether to take the contract or not.
Time For Travel
Our team works with you to make travel arrangements and support you during the process of moving abroad.
