Teaching English in Jecheon

Programs for teaching English in Jecheon in Korea continue to be innovated by Jecheon Office of Education.

On Monday, July 18, the Jecheon Office of Education held the opening ceremony of the ‘Jecheon Office of Education Global Village School English Career Experience Camp’ for elementary and middle school students, to be held for two weeks at the Daewon University Research Center.

Jecheon Office of Education’s Global Village School English Career Experience Camp is part of the Jecheon Happy Education District project, in cooperation with Daewon University and Semyung University in the Jecheon region, using the universities’ human and material educational resources to provide global education for elementary and middle school students. It is an immersive English career experience program for summer vacation that operates experience-oriented English classes and department experience classes for nurturing talented individuals.

The 2022 Global Village School English Career Experience Camp will be held from July 18 (Mon) to July 29 (Fri) for a total of 60 elementary and middle school students. Students will participate in experiential educational activities. The contents of the camp are from 9:00 to 12:00 (3 hours), communication-oriented English class with a native English speaker of Semyung University, and from 12:00 to 13:00 (1 hour) with a departmental experience class with a professor at Daewon University.

For the department experience, special lectures are offered in the Department of Exercise Rehabilitation, Multimedia, Physical Therapy, Nursing, Social Welfare, Beauty, Biomedical, Emergency Rescue, Hotel Cooking, and Semyung University’s IT Department. In particular, English class materials for each department will be provided in connection with the department experience class and the English class, and in relation with the students’ English writing activities, it is planned to be operated in a substantial way, such as with correction guidance by a native English speaker of Semyung University.

Jecheon Office of Education Superintendent Jeong Jin encouraged students to participate in the Global Village School English Career Experience Camp, and said that he would do his best to provide long-term support to students in Jecheon with a unique and professional education program linked with local universities.
